Job Description
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE / FUNCTIONAL CONTEXT:

This is an Entry-level/Fresher job role

Contribute effectively as a team member in a High Performance driven Self-Managed Team based on the principles of HPWS and IL6S.
The team members would be accountable for end to end shop floor performance. In addition to core responsibilities they will also undertake additional star cap responsibilities of functions like Quality, Production, Asset Care, EHS & HR on rotation basis. There won’t be any separate line wise quality, safety, maintenance team on the shop floor and the same processes & systems will be completely owned by Team members
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core Responsibilities
1. RM Process:
a) Tipping Station, Blower, Vacuum lifters, Hoist and HMI Panel Control operation
b) Magnets, sifter and Bag filters cleaning
c) IQS entries
d) Pallets and label scanning
e) SCADA controls
f) Pneumatic conveying
g) Melters, Plate Heat exchanger and control operation

2. Equipment Ownership : To Operate, Clean, Lubricate, Inspect and Tighten
3. GMP area housekeeping
4. Responsible for quality including in-process quality testing
5. Members of shift Firefighting and first aid teams
6. Multi skilled - Relieving for lunch and tea, biological breaks and fatigue.
7. Participate in Shift Assembly Meeting at starting and end of the shift for take over and hand over.
8. Provide all required data / information to STAR Caps for data analysis.
9. Strict adherence to Setting instructions & SOP
10. Escalate deviations to STAR caps / Team members on priority
11. Plan & implement Kaizens
12. Participate in Continuous Improvement projects.
13. Adherence to quality standards
14. Demonstrate BBS on shop floor and use all Personal Protective Equipment as per the standards
15. Identify and escalate unsafe conditions.
16. Plan & take necessary action to improve performance in operating parameters.
17. Reprocessing of in-process rejects in time.
18. Attending to minor maintenance & break down problems in work area
19. Work planning for the weekly cleaning in process (CIP) activity.
20. Ensuring all input materials (including packaging material) are available in respective work areas
21. Strong system and equipment ownership mind set
22. Daily management System & QRP Implementation and ownership
23. SQDCSM KPI Monitoring and improvement plan implementation to meet glide path
24. To define, develop, implement and continuously improve system, processes and capabilities


Below are the star cap responsibilities that the team member will undertake in addition to above core responsibilities on rotation basis.

Quality STAR Cap

1. Ensure strict adherence to quality standards.
2. Share in process quality issues & improvements with the team during SAM.
3. Ensure samples are given to lab for testing as per sampling schedule.
4. Plan & implement kaizens to reduce Rework & Scrap
5. Conduct QC Meetings as per schedule & ensure participation from team.
6. Attend central quality meeting to understand customer complaints and associated corrective and preventive action. Communicate back to shift team members.
7. Update the performance scorecard
8. Participate in HPWS’s Weekly Team Meeting, with previous week data.
9. Analyze the performance of team in the quality domain parameters.
10. Drive continuous improvement projects in Quality

Production STAR Cap

1. Conduct Shift Assembly Meeting.
2. Update and share the Production plan with details in Shift Assembly Meeting.
3. Ensure presence & participation in SAM from all team members.
4. Coordinate with team members for external interface e.g. Utility, CS&L.
5. Communicate with Resource Team / Production HOD for deviations from production plan
6. Plan & implement kaizens
7. Ensure adherence to Setting instructions & SOP’s
8. Update the team score card
9. Conduct HPWS’s Weekly Team Meeting as per schedule, with team score card.
10. Plan & take necessary action to raise the bar in all production parameters.

Asset Care STAR Cap

1. Coordinate with Mechanical & Electrical Maintenance resource team member to monitor, control & reduce breakdown percentage
2. Escalate machine related abnormalities to Shift Asset Care team.
3. Ensure the maintenance checklist updation for all machines.
4. Provide required support for team to conduct maintenance activities on the line.
5. Ensure participation from all STAR Caps & Team Members in kaizen
6. Coordinate with Mechanical & Electrical Maintenance resource team member for conducting Preventive Maintenance activities.
7. Lead improvement activities with the team to control & reduce the power cost.
8. Update the score card
9. Participate in HPWS’s Weekly Team Meeting, with previous week data.

EHS STAR Cap

1. Ensure that team members use Personal Protective Equipment's as per standard and make it their way of life.
2. Escalate safety abnormalities to team during Shift Assembly Meeting through HPWS Open Board.
3. Conduct internal safety audit once a month to identify unsafe conditions.
4. Coordinate with facilitator to close the audit points and share the information in SAM.
5. Check whether all the emergency buttons / safety precautions are taken care of before the beginning and end of each shift.
6. Plan & implement kaizen to eliminate Incident & Accident.
7. Ensure segregation of scrap material and its timely removal to scrap yard
8. Take Corrective and Preventive action against Incident & Accident.
9. Ensure availability of PPE materials and First Aid box contents.
10. Share 5S related issues & improvements with the team during SAM.
11. Update the score card
12. Discuss the performance of team in the Safety & 5S domain parameters

HR STAR Cap

1. Facilitate Self-managed Team functioning and rotation of STAR Caps
2. Key enabler in managing communication, training and development.
3. Represent and address the welfare concerns of the team
4. Nominating team members for training and subsequent knowledge transfer.
5. Ensure code of conduct training for all team members
6. Coordinate between team members and HR business partner in administration of common services like transport, occupational health centre, medical reimbursements as per policy, canteen etc.
7. Coordinating for payroll, performance management exercise and employee engagement activities
8. Discuss with team and do leave planning to eliminate absenteeism
9. Coordinate for stationery requirements of the team members
10. Participation in Human Value Action team (HVAT)
11. Represent team members in central HR team meetings

The ideal candidate needs to have the tenacity and passion to get results as a team and high inclination to learn new skills and grow the skill matrix in the organization. The person should be open to take on the additional responsibilities in addition to core as part of star cap concept. He/She needs to be a good team player and should regularly participate in Small Group Activities
